After the loss of the Kelly the British Admiralty wanted to court-martial Mountbatten for losing her through his own incompetence and poor judgement, but they were overruled. This was naturally not made public, but was fairly widely-known in the Navy at the time. After the Kelly he wasn't given another ship.

Sounds a bit rough given the situation, but if you can find a source for the above could you insert it into the article. It's a valid point. Wiki-Ed 10:27, 26 August 2005 (UTC)
A bit rough and not true. He was given command of the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious. Philip Ziegler's biography of Mountbatten makes this quite clear. -- TinaSparkle 08:50, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
