Talk:HMS Cornwall (1812)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
3 things. First, if she was launched as Wellesley, the page should be Wellesley, N Cornwall, w a note she was renamed. 2d, I've read she was sunk at quayside in 1941, N 1940; 3d, as a matter of trivia, that makes her the last wooden ship of the line sunk by enemy action.
As to dating, I've seen discrepencies of a yr that way in film releases, too; somebody needs to check. This isn't a problem unique to Wikipedia; there seems to be a problem dating events at times, especially movie releases. Grun's Timetables of History is notorious for it; all his dates seem to be either a yr early or a yr late, & it's often impossible to know which. Movie dates are even worse (& is it yr of release, yr filming ended, copywright yr, or what, that actually gets mentioned?); absent the exact date, the year is a toss.
