HMS Whimbrel (U29)

Hms Whimbrel the last surviving Royal Navy Warship at the Japanease Surrender. She was Laid down on the 31st of october to the pennent of U29 at the Famed yards of Yarrow Scoctstourn. Launched on the 25th of august 1942 almost nine months after laying down about average for this class of vessel. She was commisioned on the 13 of January 1943 and was to primarily serve in the pacific. Present at the japanease surrender. In 1949 she was sold to Egypt and Renamed Farouq. As of 2006 there is a presevation attempt to bring her to liverpool as a memoriel to the brave men who died on the Atlantic Convoys.
