There have been twelve vessels in the Royal Navy, including those that served on the Canadian Lakes, which have been named HMS Mohawk:

  • The first HMS Mohawk, 6, sloop, launched Canadian Lakes 1756, captured by the French 1756 (Colledge).
  • The second HMS Mohawk, 18, sloop, launched Canadian Lakes 1759, lost 1764 (Colledge).

This vessel is subject to much confusion, but the reference to the payment of prize money so many years later suggests that she did exist as such, at least for a short period. Colledge suggests she may have been the Viper of 1810.
