HMS Java (1811)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The French built frigate Renommée was taken by the English near Madagascar and renamed HMS Java. She carried 38 guns and was under the command of Captain Harry Lambert when she met the American frigate USS Constitution of 44 guns in December 1812 in what would be her last battle, which lasted for three hours. After the surrender she was deemed unfit for repair and subsequently burned.
