HMS Bellerophon

Four ships of the British Royal Navy have been named HMS Bellerophon after the mythological Greek hero Bellerophon.

• HMS Bellerophon (1786) was a 74-gun third-rate launched in 1786, a prison ship from 1815 (where she became famous for transporting Napoleon), renamed Captivity in 1824, and sold in 1836.
• The second HMS Bellerophon saw action in the Crimean War
• HMS Bellerophon (1865) was an early battleship, renamed Indus III in 1904 and used for training, then sold in 1922.
• HMS Bellerophon (1907) was a dreadnought battleship that was launched in 1907, fought at the Battle of Jutland in 1916, and sold for breakup in 1921.
