Two ships of the Royal New Zealand Navy have been named HMNZS Wellington, after the Province. Wellington is also the name of the capital city of New Zealand.

The Ships carry the Battle Honours of their Royal Navy predecessor HMS Wellington, which served in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy.

HMNZS Wellington (F-69)

Was the first ship of the RNZN to be named HMNZS Wellington. A Leander class frigate purchased second hand from the Royal Navy (previously HMS Bacchante). Commissioned into the RNZN in 1982 and modernised at the Naval Dockyard, Devonport Auckland, the ship entered service in 1987.

Decommissioned in 1999, the ship was sunk on the 13 November 2005 off the south of Wellington as a dive attraction. The ship now has now broken into two pieces.

HMNZS Wellington (P-55)

A Protector class OPV currently under construction as part of Project Protector and due to commission in 2007.
