Named after Captain Cook's HM Bark Endeavour, HMNZS Endeavour is the third ship of the Royal New Zealand Navy to carry the name. The previous two ships were Antarctica support vessels leased from the United States.
Endeavour was built in South Korea to a commercial design and commissioned on the 8 April 1988.
