I am a former crew member of the 'Bonnie'. I was an electrician on her from '64to68' and I loved every minute I spent on her. We spent so much time at sea it was just the greatess time of my life. The list of ports I was in goes on and on. Not just the electricians but the whole crew was just the best bunch of guys you could of ever wanted to sail with. Nobody but nobody had more fun then a hairybag from training camp at Cornwallis to our last days at Stadacona running around getting our papers stamped to get back on civey street. Any old shipmates out there, especially looking for Roger Morgan or Bob Walker a radioman off the Ottawa. I went on her during refit in New Brunswick spent a great year and a half in Quebec were we really partied down. Anybody remember me parking my car in some guys front yard with his fence under my car, or me and Roger skipping class on our two's course to spend it in the bar and have the master come in sit down and not say a word about it. There are so many of these great times I can't list them all. Hoping to hear from some mates. You can contact me through my wife at hez@mnsi.net. Ask for Ed Shpak remember me know.

Your a first my friend. I have a Great-Uncle who served aboard her, and lets just say he was not quite impressed with the vessel. Not to mention he is also quite Anti-Liberal because of his experiences in the navy. He served on Bonaventure in the 60's aswell. Capt.Nero

If anyone out there remembers my grandfather, Robert Slasor, who was a stoker on the Bonnie and died on ship October 31, 1965, my family would love if you could contact us and share any memories. Additionally, if there is anyone out there who is aware of who maintains the peacetime naval deaths memorial (Bonaventure anchor) in Point Pleasant Park, Halifax, NS, we'd love to have the information, as my grandfather was mysteriously left off the memorial when it was established (it is not Veterans Affairs, the Armed Forces, or the city, they have all been asked). contact: chickenmilkgirl_at_hotmail.com . [edit] Majestic class

The article says

She was acquired in the early 1950s by the Canadian Navy, which was looking to replace its aging WW2-vintage light carriers Magnificent and Warrior which were deemed too small and slow for the jet age.

This makes no sense, because Magnificent and Powerful were both Majestic-class carriers. So if one was too small and slow, why wasn't the other? There needs to be a better explanation here. Gdr 16:14, 2004 Nov 16 (UTC)

Gdr, I believe you may have misread that paragraph. I believe what the author was trying to say was that the Magnificant and Warrior were to small and slow compared to the ships that were in exsistance during that time frame, and the Canadian government wanted them replaced with bigger faster ships [[[Capt.Nero]]

[edit] Categorization

This vessel is categorized in Category:Cold War aircraft carriers of Canada. As such, it should not be also categorized in that category's parent category (Category:Aircraft carriers of Canada per Wiki's categorization rules. Josh 17:06, 29 September 2006 (UTC) WP:Ships appears to contravene this with their categorization guidelines, so duplicate listings are okay apparantly. Josh 17:15, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
