HMAS Latrobe (J-234/M-234), named for the town of Latrobe, Tasmania, was a Bathurst class corvette laid down by Morts Dock and Engineering at Balmain in New South Wales on 27 January 1942. As the ship was built in a dock it was floated clear on 19 June 1942 with the ceremony officiated by the Reverend A. G. Rix. The ship was commissioned on 6 November 1942. Latrobe served as a training ship attached to Flinders Naval Depot from 1946. In March 1953 she was transferred to the control of Williamstown Dockyard and placed in the reserve fleet in September 1953. HMAS Latrobe was sold for scrap to the Hong Kong Rolling Mills on 18 May 1956.
