From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HMAS Labuan (L-3501) was a Mark III Tank Landing Ship built by Canadian Vickers, Limited, of Montreal in Canada, launched on 31 August 1944 and commissioned in the Royal Australian Navy on 1 July 1946. She paid off to reserve on 28 September 1951 and was sold on 9 November 1955.

The Labuan was the first of two naval vessels to be named after Labuan, an island off the east coast of Sabah. Her name was subsequently used by HMAS Labuan (L-128), a Balikpapan class heavy landing craft.
