HMAS Canberra (FFG 02) was an Adelaide class guided missile armed frigate of the Royal Australian Navy. The ship was laid down by Todd Shipyards at Seattle in Washington on 1 March 1978, launched on 1 December 1978. HMAS Canberra was commissioned on 21 March 1981 and decommissioned in Sydney in November 2005.
The decommissioned frigate will be scuttled off the coast of Barwon Heads, Victoria, to be used as a wreck diving site. This project will cost A$2.8 million. [1]
