[edit] Salut!
Welcome to Wikipedia - thank you for digging out that information on Orsinium and expanding the article - I've been expanding Elder Scrolls lore articles quite a lot myself recently, with a number of new articles. Since, obviously, the lore of Tamriel and Nirn as a whole was expanded in books and other texts The Elder Scrolls IV it is very likely time Wikipedia became a competant source regards the subject. There are probably dozens of possible article candidates, not least on such subjects as the Nine Divines & the Septim royal line, as well as more comprehensive articles on lore related characters like Barenziah (who has ten books, plus references from others, in TES IV). If you'd like to reply to this, follow this link and simply edit in a topic. I espouse because of a lack of a cogent group of Wikipedians currently addressing the issue of TES lore, and obviously all help is appreciated! -- D-Katana 17:34, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] personal attacks by User:NCC17
I noticed your post following NCC17's personal attack against me last night. Just thought I'd give you some background on NCC17's PA violations. At the end of July I attempted to correct a link on the AC/DC page which claimed 1 page to be the "official" website when common search engines indicated another site as "official". I noted that NCC17 had a long and persistent history of rv'ing any changes to this link and had, at times, broached 3RR to maintain his view on what the section should look like. I was not the first user to attempt this. Even regular editors of that article had tried in the past to make the same corrections that I did but, as with me, were quickly rv'd by NCC17. I do not edit war over issues and decided the user had taken ownership of the article and thus stopped. In the days following my edit, a similar series of edits began to pop up from an anon user located in Eastern Canada.(Just for the record my IP(which is static) is 142.179.103.183. This can be confirmed, if you want to check for yourself, by looking at Admin SoothingR's talk page. I purposely posted anon on his talk page to show that my IP, just as my User page states, is in Victoria, British Columbia...approx. 5000 kms from where NCC17's anon is located.) NCC17 began an series of attacks against me, thinking I was the anon, on several pages including Admin talk pages, article talk pages and edit summaries. I had AGF'd it for a while before asking for Admin help to stop his persistant...and completely false...attacks and accusations. So far, he has ignored all warnings. He has even been blocked for his behaviour but this has not stopped his Wikipedia policy violations(of which there have been many). Admin Circeus gave NCC17 the link for a "check user" long ago. I really hoped he would have gone ahead with it but did not bother. He preference is for personal attacks over Wikipedia rules and I continue to be the brunt of it. Last nights PA was just another example of the user's habits. SoothingR had asked to me to inform him if any more personal attacks happened, which I did. On his talk page I noted that you also followed NCC17's tirade with a post of your own which indicated me(albeit subtle) as the link editor. I expressed my opinion to SoothingR that I did not believe it to be any sort of sockpuppetry and that you were a valid editor on Wikipedia who just didn't know the whole edit history behind NCC17. I continue to be baffled by his belief(even with all evidence against it) that I somehow warp back and forth from one coast to the other just to edit war with him??? But my hope is that SoothingR's "final warning" to him will end it all. Sorry for the long post. I just felt you, as a regular/informed Wiki-editor, ought to know all the information so that you wouldn't fall in with the "wrong kind" and end up blacklisted as NCC17 has been. Good luck with your Wikipedia experience. Hope to see you around on other pages. Hopefully in a more positive and contructive form. Good day! Fair Deal 14:10, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Apology accepted
And I will apologise to you for the sheep comment. You must understand my frustration with having to deal with the constant PA's from the "link troll"...as I've come to know him. Still not sure how myself and the eastern anon are from the same "region". Living in the second largest country in the world, I tend to think of my region as simply being Southern BC. Trying to compare us geographically is the same as saying an editor from Florida and an editor from Alaska are next-door neighbours? I tend not to be too strict with anon IP's the way some reg'd users are. Always remember...Wikipedia was built by "unregistered IP's who appear to have a lot of knowledge on Wikipedia guidelines"...to use your own words. For every bad Anon there are several good ones. And, as Admin SoothingR stated, NCC17's anon didn't vandalise the article. He/she simply tried to contribute based on their reading of a Wikipedia policy. And the user history shows the edit was accompanied by a valid edit summary and a talk page explanation. Many IP's, and registered users alike, don't bother with those fine details(although they all should). As I said before, we will cross paths again. And I'm sure it's will be a much more positive meeting. For now...Good day! Fair Deal 02:11, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] AC/DC edits
Hi there, your edits on the various AC/DC-related articles are great, and keep doing them, but it's a bit annoying when edits of style are made where they aren't really necessary. If an article reads well, it's best just to leave it rather than make edits which don't improve the flow of the article. It's safer and less antagonistic to make edits where the grammar is bad or wrong, not just in a style you don't like. I hope I'm not sounding like an a$$hole - I mean, you changed one or two things that I did wrong, and that's great, but I know when my grammar is OK, and it's a bit of a bind to see something changed for change's sake. Also, do we need to wikify years? To see 2004 changed to 2004 seems to me utterly pointless, but is there something I don't know, i.e. is it policy? Cheers, Bretonbanquet 18:30, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your input on my talk page, and your understanding :o) I'm a bit of a pedant myself, as you've probably guessed - I'm sure you understand! Keep up the good work. Bretonbanquet 22:22, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
