Hiyayaywhopee,
Though the Ofudesaki is indeed difficult to understand, it is not impossible to do so and what it promises is in fact delivered to anyone who cares to make a sincere effort to do so.
When working on understanding poetry, it is sometimes useful to consult a poetry teacher. In my own case I have found the 3rd Shinbashira of Tenrikyo to be especially helpful in providing a framework in which the poems and indeed all sincere efforts can be understood.
Though his guidance I have been shown how to understand each of the poems from the point of view of three different but valid interpretations.
First there is the interpretation of a child. That is a rather straight forward interpretation as children lack the knowledge that comes from experience, are rather easily fooled by appearances and are in need of nurturing and care.
The second is the interpretation of a parent. In general parents are willing to do whatever it takes to nurture and protecct their children and provide them with opportunities to succeed in this world.
The third is the interpretation of single-heartedness. That is the point of view that flows from the understanding that the whole universe is the body of God.
In Tenrikyo all of the interpretations are viewed as necessary and valid truths though awakening to truth of single-heartedness is the fundamental goal.
Does this help?
