Hit & Run is the group blog of the magazine Reason. It is maintained and written by the staff of the magazine. It was started in 2002 by Tim Cavanaugh, Reason's web editor. Cavanaugh, the former editor-in-chief for Suck.com, modelled the blog in some ways after that website: he brought along several other Suck.com writers to contribute, he fostered a style in the blog matching that former website's sarcastic attitude, and even the name "Hit & Run" was taken from what had been a weekly news roundup column on Suck.com. The Reason editors referred to this co-opting of the former website as the "Suck-ification of Reason." [1]

In 2005, Hit & Run was named as one of the best political blogs by Playboy Magazine.

Hit & Run commenters have spun off a separate site, grylliade.org, for extra commentary, and have organized several social gatherings.
