For the most part, I edit here to bring NPOV to articles on Islam and Muslims. There's a lot of heated passion out there, particularly in the US and in Europe, in regards to Muslims and Islam. That anger is reflected on Wikipedia, and in the articles dealing with the topic of Islam, directly or indirectly.

So what have I achieved? Little or nothing in terms of actual article improvement. I did learn about a few major flaws in the whole Wikipedia concept. When interest in the subject is all the qualification one needs to edit, actual intellectualism and knowledge go out the window. Despite NPOV being said to be non-negotiable, there are no mechanisms that guarantee neutrality. This problem is manifested in the articles I've tried to fix, where prejudice and hatred have been the grounds on which articles have been made, expanded and maintained. A massive number of people have strong feelings regarding Islam for reasons we all know, and they outnumber those who might be more neutral on almost every article. Most Muslims have given up on trying to compete against the mob hatred. Some propose boycotting Wikipedia altogether. I'm finding the latter to be the most appropriate approach. "...As some Muslim scholars put it, marriage is like enslavement, with the husband being the master and the wife being the slave, and thus just like dhimmis are prohibited from having Muslim slaves, so dhimmi men are not allowed to have Muslim wives. Following the same logic, Muslim men were allowed to marry women of the "People of the Book" because the enslavement of non-Muslims by Muslims is allowed.Touching a sensitive point of the Muslim psyche, this prohibition was enforced with the utmost rigor, with any violations of it, including a sexual relationship between a non-Muslim man and a Muslim woman, being punishable by death."
