Talk:His Excellency (opera)

[edit] The Played-Out Humorist??
The Gilbert & Sullivan Archive's His Excellency page says that the opera is "sometimes" sub-titled "The Played-Out Humorist." At the moment, I can't find any other source for this. It is much better to say where, than to include a vague "sometimes." I'll look again tonight. The original vocal score (which I was looking at last night) has no sub-title. [edit] Frequency of Performance
The previous edit said:
- In recent years, a few performances of this work have been given, some with Carr's score, and some with newly-composed scores.
I am aware of only one full production of His Excellency in living memory, and only one newly-composed score. The comment as written certainly exaggerates the work's popularity. I am not sure that an isolated amateur performance, and an isolated amateur score, are really noteworthy. Marc Shepherd 12:51, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
