[edit] MADtv (2000-2005): The MAD Women Renaissance era

After the departures of Phil LaMarr and Pat Kilbane, the cast of MADtv firmly entered the 21st Century with the female cast members leading the way. With the exception of Will Sasso, Aries Spears and Michael McDonald, the major sketches and characters from 2000 to 2005 were dominated by the female cast members.

[edit] Season 6

Season 6, saw veteran cast members, Nicole Sullivan and Debra Wilson continue to produce sketches with reccuring characters such as, for Sullivan, The Vancome Lady, Antonia, and Darlene McBride, and for Wilson, Bunifa Latifah Halifah Sharifa Jackson, and her Oprah Winfrey impression.

However, both women ventured into new areas and produced new characters. For example, Sullivan created characters like Diane Lawyer-Trabajo for the News at 6 sketch, Charlotte (Anti-Depressercize Minute), Mimi O'Malley (The O'Malley's), Champagne (The Stick Chicks), Inga (Hoppy Potty), Susan Caydel (The Caydels) and she teamed up with Michael McDonald as the character Judith for the Literally couple sketch. As for Wilson, she brought new characters to life like Autumn (Stick Chicks), Rosa Marticorena (News at Six), Miss Sylvia, Alexis Dubane (Prehistoric Glamazon Huntresses) and Ms. Not Nice (Jenny Jones).

Both Sullivan and Wilson teamed up to create the promiscuous Latina duo Lida and Melina. Wilson also teamed up with Aries Spears to play Tovah McQueen in the Reality Check sketches and Nautica Brown from Real Mother****ing Talk with Dollar Bill Montgomery. Other women leading the comedy explosion of MADtv included repertory players Alex Borstein and Mo Collins.

[edit] Season 7

The seventh season (2001-2002) saw the departures of Nicole Sullivan, Christian Duguay, and Nelson Ascencio, with Bobby Lee, Stephnie Weir, and Andrew Daly joining. By the eighth season (2002-2003), Alex Borstein, Will Sasso and Andrew Daly had left the cast.

[edit] Season 9

The ninth season (2003-2004) saw the departure of Debra Wilson, with the cast now composed of Ike Barinholtz, Frank Caliendo, Mo Collins, Bobby Lee, Michael McDonald, Josh Meyers, Ron Pederson, Aries Spears, Paul Vogt, and Stephnie Weir, along with featured performers Daniele Gaither, Keegan-Michael Key, Nicole Parker, Melissa Paull, Jordan Peele, and Gillian Vigman.

[edit] Season 10

The tenth season (2004-2005) premiered without Mo Collins and in the middle of the season, Aries Spears would announce that he would leave at the end of the tenth season.
