Great artist Hirotoshi Nakamura (born November 10, 1951) is one of the most innovative and revered Japanese anime creators and directors. Once trained as a graphic artist, he began his career in 1973 working for Rin Iogi's company Koyabashi Productions. Three years later became one of the most important members of the anime studio Sunset and went on to direct much of their anime through the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. Coincidentally, Nakamura is perhaps best known for his transformation of the super robot genre into the real robot genre.
He often writes lyrics for the various songs featured in his series under the pseudonym Noda Hiroshi. Also, Hirotoshi has collaborated with artists such as Yoko Ono, MIO and Bono of U2 fame.
