Hirakud is a small town near Sambalpur in Orissa, India. It is famous for the Hirakud Dam built over the Mahanadi River. Hirakud is also a Industrial township with number of Industries.

Located 15 km from the nearest city of Sambalpur, it is a quiet town with a large portion of the population engaged in various Industries located here.
