Hinkley Point A nuclear power station

Hinkley Point A is located on a 19.4 hectare site on the Somerset coast, five miles west of the River Parrett estuary, is a twin reactor station currently being decommissioned. Construction of Hinkley Point A began in 1957 and the station began generating electricity seven years later in 1965. It was one of eleven Magnox nuclear power stations commissioned in the United Kingdom between 1956 and 1971. During its 35 years of operation, Hinkley Point A generated more than 103 TWh of electricity, finally ceasing generation in 2000. [1]

There are two Nuclear power stations at Hinkley Point on the Somerset coast, the other is Hinkley Point B, operated by British Energy
