Hingston Down
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hingston Down is a hill near Gunnislake near Callington in Cornwall in England.
THe Anglo-Saxon Chronicle spells its name as Hengestdun = "Stallion Hill" and says that there in 835 (corrected by scholars to 838) Egbert king of the West Saxons defeated an army of Vikings and Cornish.
There is a quarry[1] there.
