Himatnagar is a city and a municipality in Sabarkantha district in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is the administrative headquarters of he district. Hathmati is the river of the city. The city was named after the King Himmat Sinh. There is also a school- Himmat High School which was named after the King. Motipura, Mehtapura, Mahavirnagar, Pologround are major areas of the city. Navratri, Diwali, Ramzan and Uttrayan are the biggest festivals of city.

As of 2001 India census,GRIndia Himatnagar had a population of 58,267. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Himatnagar has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 72%. In Himatnagar, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
