Hillside railway station serves the southern half of the Birkdale area of Southport, England. It is located on the Southport branch of the Merseyrail network's Northern Line.

It is the closest station to the golf course, Royal Birkdale, and is extremely busy when major events (such as the Open Championship) are held there.

Hillside opened in 1848 as an intermediate station on the Liverpool, Crosby and Southport Railway. It became part of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in 1904, who took over from the LCSR. Subsequently, with the advent of British Rail in 1948, it became part of the Merseyrail Network's Northern Line.

Trains run to either Southport or Liverpool Central and Hunts Cross at 15 minute frequencies Monday-Saturday daytime. During the evenings and on summer Sundays, trains run to Southport and Liverpool Central every 15 minutes, but every 30 minutes to Hunts Cross.

Plans are already in progress for an extensive refurbisment of the station for when the Open Championship is held at the nearby Royal Birkdale golf course in 2008.
