[edit] Lawsuit and water investigation

I have restored sourced and accurate information about the Kloepper-LeBon lawsuit. I have deleted information about Duncan Duvall because I could find no source for it. Serious allegations of misconduct must be sourced under WP:BLP. Casey Abell 00:27, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I have found information on the Duncan Duvall situation and will restore a carefully worded summary, sourced to a local newspaper. Casey Abell 00:53, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Murder

Also under WP:BLP I have eliminated unsourced information about a murder stated to have occurred in Highland Village in the late 1980s. I could find no confirmation of the information, which discussed actual persons. Casey Abell 00:39, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia simply cannot allow unsourced descriptions of a murder investigation which concerns persons who may still be living. WP:BLP is no-two-ways-about-it on the issue:
"We must get the article right. Be very firm about high quality references, particularly about details of personal lives. Unsourced or poorly sourced controversial (negative, positive, or just highly questionable) material about living persons should be removed immediately from Wikipedia articles, talk pages, and user pages. These principles also apply to biographical material about living persons in other articles. The responsibility for justifying controversial claims in Wikipedia, of all kinds, but especially for living people's bios, rests firmly on the shoulders of the person making the claim.
"Editors should remove any controversial material about living persons that is either unsourced, relies upon sources that do not meet standards specified in Wikipedia:Reliable sources, or is a conjectural interpretation of a source. In cases where the information is derogatory and poorly sourced or unsourced, this kind of edit is an exception to the three-revert rule. These principles apply to biographical material about living persons found anywhere in Wikipedia, including user and talk pages. Administrators may enforce the removal of such material with page protection and blocks, even if they have been editing the article themselves. Editors who re-insert the material may be warned and blocked."
The material about this murder must be removed until actual and verifiable sources are provided. An unsupported assertion that a 1980s newspaper had accounts of the murder, or that "anybody" in a certain location would know about it is simply not enough. I am removing the material and will continue to remove it until acceptable sources as defined in WP:BLP are provided. Casey Abell 18:39, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
