Highway 71 (Ontario)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Highway 71 is a provincial highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. The highway, 157 kilometres long, extends from a junction with Highway 17 just east of Kenora to a junction with Highway 11 approximately midway between Barwick and Emo.
At one time, Highway 71 continued further east, and shared the routing of Highway 11 eastward to Fort Frances to meet U.S. Route 71 at the Fort Frances-International Falls border crossing. When Highway 11 was constructed west of Atikokan in the 1960s, the Highway 71 designation was changed and fully later removed from this segment, and along the present route had been once signed as Ontario King's Highway 70.
Highway 71 is part of the Trans-Canada Highway for its entire length.
Communities along Highway 71 include;
