Highbury was founded in 1903 by Sibella Douglas McMillan and is located on the outskirts of the suburb of Hillcrest, overlooking the Valley of a Thousand Hills.

Many of its school leavers go on to attend top private high schools, particularly, Hilton College, Kearsney College and Michaelhouse.

Highbury has a non-denominational Christian ethos.

A student population of about 550 boys attend Highbury on its 11 hectare estate.

Highbury accepts boarding and day pupils up to grade 7. It has a pupil-teacher ratio of 13:1.

Richard Stanley has been the headmaster since 1994, succeeding Mr Clarence.

Highbury, in partnership with nearby St. Mary's Diocesan School for Girls in Kloof, has opened a pre-primary phase called Weavers Nest at Highbury.
