High Point Regional High School

High Point Regional High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school and school district, which serves students from five municipalities in Sussex County, New Jersey. As of April 5, 2006, the school served 1,400 students from the five municipalities of Branchville Borough (41.5 students), Frankford Township (357.5 students), Lafayette Township (140 students), Sussex Borough (113.5 students) and Wantage Township (746.5 students), along with one non-resident student.[1]

During the 2005-06 school year, there were 299 students in 9th grade, 315.5 in 10th grade, 315 in 11th grade, and a senior class with 271 students. There are also 198.5 ungraded special education students and one student in regional day school.[1]

The high school was established in 1963 and is located in Wantage Township. The school is accredited by the New Jersey Department of Education.

For the 1997-98 school year, High Point Regional High School received the Blue Ribbon Award from the United States Department of Education, the highest honor that an American school can achieve.[2] The school was recently ranked first of fifty-three schools in the state in the "DE" District factor group by the Newark Star-Ledger newspaper and second in the DFG by New Jersey Monthly Magazine.

The 2005 graduating class had average SAT Verbal scores of 526 (compared to statewide and nationwide averages of 503 and 508 respectively) and average Math scores of 534 (versus 517 and 520 in New Jersey and nationwide, respectively).

High Point Regional High School offers many different classes, including music, theater, media, technology, art, graphic design, web design, computers, computer programming, retail marketing, advertising & sales.
