Higashiuwa District, Ehime

Higashiuwa (東宇和郡; -gun) was a district located in Ehime, Japan.

On April 1, 2004 the entire district merged with the town of Mikame (from Nishiuwa District) forming the city of Seiyo. The district was dissolved as a result.

• March 31, 1955-The village of Tawamazu and Karie merged to form the village of Toyoumi.
• March 31, 1955-The village of Tamatsu merged into the town of Yoshida from Kitauwa District (now the city of Uwajima).
• January 1, 1958-The villages of Toyoumi and Takayama merged to form the town of Akehama.
• August 1, 1958-Parts of the city of Ozu was merged into the town of Uwa.
• April 1, 1959-The village of Kurosegawa gained town status and become the town of Shirokawa.
• April 1, 2004-The towns of Akehama, Nomura, Shirokawa, and Uwa merged with the town of Mikame (from Nishiuwa District) forming the city of Seiyo. The district was dissolved as a result.
