Higashi-Totsuka Station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Higashi-Totsuka Station (東戸塚駅; -eki) is in Totsuka-ku, Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture. The station is owned by East Japan Railway Company (JR-East) and is located on the Tōkaidō Main Line, but only has platforms for the Yokosuka Line. Currently, as the station is part of the Shonan-Shinjuku Line, trains operating on the Tōkaidō Main Line do not stop at Higashi-Totsuka.

[edit] Station Structure

The station has an island-type platform with two tracks. The station buildings are built above the platforms.

[edit] Surrounding Area

The residential area is growing. The Aurora Mall, in front of the train station, houses Daiei and Seibu. Forced to compete with the well established shopping district around Yokohama Station, sales have, seemingly, shown little growth and rumors suggest that there is talk that Seibu may close shop in Higashi-Totsuka.

[edit] History

  • October 1, 1980 Opened. Established when the Tōkaidō Line & Yokosuka Line trains where separated into two lines.
