Hienuki District, Iwate

Hienuki (稗貫郡; -gun) was a district located in Iwate, Japan.
As of 2003, the district has an estimated population of 23,027 and a density of 63.02 persons per km². The total area is 365.41 km². By the time of founding, the district was co-teminous with the city of Hanamaki-excluding the former town of Towa areas.
Till the day before the dissolution (December 31, 2005), there is only two towns left in the district.
On January 1, 2006, the district dissolved when both municipalities merged with the town of Towa from Waga District and the former city of Hanamaki to create the new city of Hanamaki.
