Hidalgotitlán

Hidalgotitlán is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Veracruz, Southeast Mexico, the town has a population of near 18,000 in 2000, the name come from the mix of two words; one Spanish and another one Indian; the first part is the family name Hidalgo (the father of the modern Mexican nation was Miguel Hidalgo) and the second part is "Tlan" that is an indigenous term specifically and ending that means "place", this settlement is located on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, is a riverbank settlement at the left bank of the river Coatzacoalcos, the nearest major urban centre is located 17 miles NNW (City of Minatitlán) upwards on the Coatzacoalcos bank too; geographical coordinates are 17°46'N 94°39'W. The main economic activity are fruit agriculture, harvest and livestock.
