Hialeah Gardens is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 19,297 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 19,969 [1], with a population density of 7987.6 per mi2, made up of mostly single story development.

Hialeah Gardens is located at 25°52′42″N, 80°20′53″W (25.878342, -80.348072)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.5 km² (2.5 mi²). 6.4 km² (2.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (2.78%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 19,297 people, 5,636 households, and 4,903 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,028.7/km² (7,845.8/mi²). There were 5,848 housing units at an average density of 917.9/km² (2,377.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 88.41% White, 1.80% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.80% Asian, 5.32% from other races, and 3.59% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 89.78% of the population.

There were 5,636 households out of which 47.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.7% were married couples living together, 15.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.0% were non-families. 9.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.38 and the average family size was 3.56.

In the city the population was spread out with 27.7% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 32.9% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $38,858, and the median income for a family was $39,804. Males had a median income of $25,540 versus $20,862 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,043. About 10.9% of families and 13.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.4% of those under age 18 and 21.0% of those age 65 or over.

Barbara Goleman Senior High School in unincorporated Miami-Dade County serves Hialeah Gardens.
