Hexic
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] Gameplay
The object of Hexic is to rotate red, blue, light green, dark green, yellow, pink, and purple hexagons to create groups of pieces touching two or more identical pieces. Playing is simple; select three adjacent pieces, and then select which way you wish to rotate them. The pieces will continue to rotate until one of them touches two matching pieces or until they return to their original positions. If any of the pieces touch two matching pieces, the cluster disappears from the board, and the pieces above it fall.
You will receive a point multiplier if you form a cluster with bonus star pieces. Bombs are very dangerous, in that you need to clear the bomb from the board before the bomb's timer runs out. Every move you make causes the bomb to count down. To get rid of the bomb, just form a cluster with it. If you form a cluster with both a bomb and a bonus star, all pieces of the previously stated cluster's color will disappear from the board. If you fail to get rid of the bomb in the allotted number of moves, the game ends.
If you manage to surround one piece with six same-color pieces, a starflower will form. Starflowers will rotate all pieces around it. Surround one piece with six starflower pieces and the center piece will turn into a special black pearl piece. You must create a cluster or flower of black pearls to "win" the game. After you create a cluster of black pearls, the game ends.
There are other variations of Hexic as well:
[edit] Timed
- Get as many points as you can in the allotted time
- Creating clusters adds to the timer
- If you create a starflower, your timer will reset, as well as expand
[edit] Survival
- Get as many points as possible in each round of gameplay
- Cleared pieces are not replaced with new ones
- Any pieces left over at the end of the round will become locked into the board
- You can not move locked pieces
- Create clusters with bonus star pieces to unlock surrounding pieces
- The game ends if the board is filled with locked pieces
- You win by completely clearing a board or lasting 50 levels
