Hestia is a 1979 science fiction novel by science fiction and fantasy author C. J. Cherryh. It was published by DAW Books.
The book tells the story of a failing human colony on the planet Hestia, confined to a single river valley even after 100 years of existence. Sam Merrit is an engineer sent to the planet in order to construct a dam that has, some believe, the potential to save the colony.
