Heroes Chronicles was a series of spinoffs of Heroes of Might and Magic III. Geared toward new players, they were packaged scenarios of Heroes III generally priced at US$20. The scenarios were the only playable parts included; for features such as single maps, a map editor, or multiplayer, buying the original Heroes III was still required.

The plot to many of the Chronicles was tied together by the character of Tarnum, who leads various armies and factions throughout them. The released Chronicles were:

• Warlords of the Wasteland (2000). Tarnum's original story, as a barbarian Stronghold campaign against wizards.
• Conquest of the Underworld (2000). A knight Castle campaign against Inferno and Necropolis castles.
• Masters of the Elements (2000). Tarnum as a wizard in a Tower campaign against Conflux castles.
• Clash of the Dragons (2000). A Rampart campaign by Tarnum against Dungeons, apparently including the return of Mutare from Armageddon's Blade.
• The World Tree (2000). Tarnum defends the World Tree from evil barbarians and necromancers. This was available as a free download for those who purchased two Heroes Chronicles games.
• The Firey Moon (2000). A campaign by Tarnum on a moon populated by Inferno castles. This was available as a free download for those who purchased three Heroes Chronicles games.
• Revolt of the Beastmasters (2001).
• The Sword of Frost (2001).

The last two were released in the United States in one bundle called The Final Chapters.
