Hermon is a village in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 402 at the 2000 census.

The Village of Hermon is in the north part of the Town of Hermon. The community is at the junction of Routes 17 and 21.

The first settlement of the village was in 1816. In 1875 a fire destroyed much of the community. The village was incorporated in 1887.

Hermon is located at 44°28′0″N, 75°13′45″W (44.466873, -75.229274)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 402 people, 151 households, and 102 families residing in the village. The population density was 408.5/km² (1,063.9/mi²). There were 161 housing units at an average density of 163.6/km² (426.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.26% White, 1.24% Black or African American, and 0.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.75% of the population.

There were 151 households out of which 32.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.4% were married couples living together, 13.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.8% were non-families. 21.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.98.

In the village the population was spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 103.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.5 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $31,477, and the median income for a family was $34,583. Males had a median income of $32,813 versus $22,969 for females. The per capita income for the village was $13,463. About 16.5% of families and 21.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 27.1% of those under age 18 and 22.4% of those age 65 or over.
