Heretic is a 2003 studio album by the death metal band Morbid Angel.
Stylistically, this album tends to move between the two differing styles Morbid Angel has toyed with in the past, with moments of powerful speed (Formulas and Altars) mixing with moments of atmospheric slowness (Blessed, Gateways). This is also the only album they made not to be recorded at Morrisound Studios.
A few pressings were made with a bonus CD called "Bonus Levels", which was a collection of pre-recorded songs and solos.
The bonus CD has 44 tracks, and according to interviews with Trey Azagthoth the track's numbers and duration have some meaning. Some tracks are silent, some of the tracks have guitar solos, and some are Instrumental (Track 43: Beneath the Hollow instrumental) or ambient.
This is the band's final release under Earache Records, as the band decided not to renew their contract.
The song "Born Again" is actually the outro guitar solo from the song "Secured Limitations" off the Gateways to Annihilation album.
