I think the revelations in Monarchy and Authority: Revolutions can be reconsiled. I mean, who is to say that alternate Bendix didn't plant or alter the diaries while assumed WSU-Bendix's identity? Maybe it was all part of his greater plan and that he wasn't entirely honest with WSU-Bendix when he told him that he merely wanted a chance to change the world.
