Henry Winter is football correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, who also writes a column for Four Four Two magazine. His writing style in FFT often takes a sideways look at the behaviour of players, managers and fans, and has in the past been composed entirely of parodies of reality. Winter could be criticised for drawing himself into his writing too often (e.g. "I was playing football with Joe Calzaghe the other day....").

Winter often takes part in televison and Radio 5 discussions. He speaks and writes eloquently. During the 2006 World Cup in Germany he gave a daily webcast on the World Cup in general with specific information on the England team. His comments are thoughtful and well researched. He clearly has the ear of a number of people in the British game, both managers and players and through these contacts often sheds light on matters normally of complete mystery to the average supporter. This is exemplified by the fact that he ghost-wrote the autobiography of Liverpool captain, and England midfielder, Steven Gerrard, which was published in September, 2006. He possesses an amazing ability of never having played the game at a professional level but still get away with a self smug and 'final say' matter on football incidents.
