Henry R. Picard

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Henry R. Picard (1897-1964) was born in Blumberg, South Australia. He fought in World War I in North Africa and the Somme. He went through the Depression, and when he was travelling in a sidecar his arm was ripped off by a hook on the side of a truck. He still fought in World War II as an officer in Darwin and New Guinea. One time, a soldier picked a fight with him and 'Harry', as he was known, beat him(he was probably over 50 at the time, and he only had one arm). It was later found in a court case that the soldier was the Australian Boxing Champion at the time!

The military records on Harry will be found soon, but I do not have time.
