Henry Orenstein (painter)

Henry Orenstein is a Canadian artist: easel paintings, murals and set design. He was mention in Barry Lord's The History of Painting in Canada: Toward a People's Art (NC Press, 1974. 253 p. illus., col. plates). He was a painter before going on to being a designer for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Halifax.

- Ian Orenstein, Henry's nephew, is a New Democratic Party politician who ran for mayor in 1978 in memory of his father. In 1986, he challenged Bob Rae for leader of the New Democratic Party of Ontario.
- Sarah Orenstein (Dora Award Winner) is the youngest of Henry's five daughters. She played a sharp-tongued feminist filmmaker in Brad Fraser's dark comedy, Cold Meat Party (2003).
- Oscar Orenstein is Henry's older brother. Who was also an artist.
- Joan Orenstein the Canadian actress is Henry's wife. One of her major roles was in The Hanging Garden. She played the dotty old grandmother, Grace. She has acted across Canada but has mostly acted for Halifax's Neptune Theatre.
