Henry Milton Taylor

Sir Henry Taylor Kt (4 November 1903-14 February 1994) was born on Long Island, Bahamas.

Together, with William Cartwright and Cyril Stevenson, Taylor co-founded the Bahamas' Progressive Liberal Party on 23 November 1953. Taylor was chairman of the Party from 1953 until 1967 when he was succeeded by Lynden Pindling.

In 1962, Taylor married (the former) Elua Mae Sisco. On 1 January 1980 Taylor was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

Taylor served as Deputy to the Governor-General of the Bahamas on number occasions between 1981 and 1988 and as Acting Governor-General from 26 June 1988 - 28 February 1991.

Taylor was appointed the third (post-Independence) Governor-General of the Bahamas on 1 March 1991 and served until his retirement on 1 January 1992.
