Henry Heras

Henry Heras (11 September 1888 - 14 December 1955) is a Indologist born in Barcelona, Spain. Initially ordained as a Chirstian priest in 1920, he came to India In 1922. Being deeply interested in studying and documenting Indian history, he started the Indian Historical Institute, which was to produce a galaxy of historians and Indologists. The institute was later to be renamed Heras Institute of Indian History and Culture. He is also the founder of the Bombay Historical Society. He was a reputed member of Indian Historical Records Commission, Indian History Congress and the International Congress of Historical Sciences. Being able to totally identify with India he become a naturalised citizen of India.
