Henry Eckford

Henry Eckford was born in Irvine, Scotland, March 12, 1775 and died in Constantinople, November 12, 1832. He was a shipbuilder and United States naval architect.
He designed all the War of 1812 Lake Ontario men-of-war, Superior, General Pike, Lady of the Lake, Mohawk, schooner Grampus, and Mahmoudieh (Turkey). He also converted Trippe from a merchant to a warship.
The Ohio class 74s were built after his model in 1820.
