[edit] ChartClarity
Hey there... you recently uploaded Image:ChCHeader.jpg and tagged it's copyright as {{PD-ineligible}}. As the licensing box states, that tag applies to images "ineligible for copyright" because they "consist entirely of information that is common property and contains no original authorship". This is clearly not the case here, since even if the background images were all "common property", the merging of them and addition of text would count as "original authorship".
If the image is one you have created, and it contains only public domain images, then you can tag its status as {{PD-release}} to show that you are choosing to release your authorship to the public domain. You should be aware of the implications of doing so however (anyone could use your image for whatever they wish, without crediting you), and may wish to consider licensing images you have created under the GFDL (using {{GFDL}}) or one of the Creative Commons Licenses.
However, in this case, I have other reservations since I seriously doubt that any of the images used in the background have been released into the public domain (especially the Gorillaz album cover). Unless they have all been released under a license giving you the right to produce derivative work, then you would not be able to use one of the tags I have mentioned above. Since it's only very low resolution copies, you could probably get away with tagging as {{logo}} since it is, afterall, the logo of the website. Hope this helps! └UkPaolo/talk┐ 18:23, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- I removed Charlie G. Hawkins forums from Charlie G. Hawkins since I considered it an unneccesarry spam link (see WP:SPAM). The latest links you've added to the BBC website are the sort of thing that should be listed under External links, although I have removed your "seriously needs updating" remark so as to retain a neutral point of view. I have also removed your "thanks to laceyturner.co.uk" which is not necessary in the caption for an image which has been taken as a screenshot from a television programme, and in my opinion amounts to advertising for that site. I also have my doubts over your licensing of Image:Charlieg!.jpg, you are only able to license it under the GFDL if you own copyright (ie if you took the photo). To me, it looks like a scan and it's inclusion here is thus violating copyright. └UkPaolo/talk┐ 14:15, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- PS - my apologies, I have just checked, and it would seem my first revert of your edits removed some of the useful content you had added to the article. I had intended only to remove your addition of the laceyturner.co.uk link, but must have been confused... Sorry! └UkPaolo/talk┐ 14:21, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Darren004.jpg)
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Darren004.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. └UkPaolo/talk┐ 14:18, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] QUOTES
Ok, so why is Charlie G Hawkins page not allowed quotes but Jade Goody page is? *rolls eyes* HelterSkelter88 13:08, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- *sighs*... it's not a case of not being "allowed quotes", it's a case of what is sensible. Please remember that this is an encyclopedia, a few appropriate and well known quotes may well be appropriate, particularly in the case of Jade Goody's page where several of those statements are often quoted about her. I didn't think that the few quotes included on Charlie G. Hawkins page added anything at all to the article — they are not particularly well known, gave no encyclopedic value, and are also unsourced (and thus unverifiable). I personally don't think that the article merits such quotes to be included. Wikiquote may be more appropriate if you want to create such a list of quotes (this could then be linked to the article on here). └UkPaolo/talk┐ 13:15, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dmn
I actually have no idea how to keep a certain person from editing a certain sect of articles; I don't think it can be done. I'm honestly not sure (I'm not an administrator, nor do I have aspirations of being one), so I can't be 100% positive... but I'll say that I'm 99% positive that it's impossible. My best suggestion would be to kindly ask him to not edit your articles; if he thinks one is worthy of deletion, ask him to at least show it to somebody else (particularly an admin) to see if they agree with his assessment of its notability. -- Kicking222 21:53, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Lily allen-smile cd1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Lily allen-smile cd1.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:06, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:ChCHeader.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:ChCHeader.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 23:33, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
