Since 1987, Hellman & Friedman has raised over $8 billion of committed capital and has invested in over 50 companies. As of 2006, they are currently investing their fifth fund, Hellman & Friedman Capital Partners V, L.P. (HFCP V), with $3.5 billion of committed capital, which was activated in August 2004.

Hellman & Friedman employs 31 investment professionals, including 12 managing directors with an average tenure of 11 years. Their limited partner investors include many of the largest U.S. and international corporate pension funds, U.S. state pension funds, university endowments and foundations. And, in HFCP V, the partners of the firm themselves, are, collectively, one of the largest limited partners, indicative of a larger trend in private equity towards principals investing their own capital.
