Helix Building

A Helix Building is a small housing at the basement of a transmitter for long- and mediumwave. In it, there are capacitators and coils for transforming the wave resistance of the feeding cable to the antenna. Active components as amplifiers are usually not housed in it. The helix building is covered in its interior with copper or aluminium, in order to prevent jamming radiation.

A helix building must be locked, because there can be high voltages on some parts in it.

The helix building, which can be a simple switchbox and small transmitters, is sometimes also the basement for a mast radiator.
