Helicopter (song)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Helicopter is a single from post punk revival band Bloc Party. It first appeared on their 2004 EP Little Thoughts and later on their 2005 album Silent Alarm. It was rumored to be about George W. Bush being elected president of the U.S.A.[citation needed], but the band has denied this. A big hit in Europe, it helped Bloc Party to win the Album of the Year in the NME Awards.

There are two videos for this song. The one made for Europe was black and white and featured a shaky and fuzzy shots to put more emphasis on the song. But in the U.S., the video for The Pioneers was changed up a bit to make it the video for Helicopter.

Helicopter is featured in several video games (FIFA '06, Burnout Revenge, Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, Project Gotham Racing 3). Also a small portion has been used in television shows (Malcolm in the Middle) and in the film (Grandma's Boy and the surfing film Campaign 2).

It has been discussed in forums that the song was titled Helicopter due to its erratic guitar solos and riffs, sounding much like a helicopter
