Helena Shipman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Helena Shipman was born in Aberdeen, Washington, USA. She became a stage actress of some note, however, her greatest claim to fame was as the wife of actor Robert Keith and mother of his son, Brian Keith who went on to become a famous actor on screen and television. Her marriage to Robert Keith was a tumultuous one, and she divorced him some time after Brian was born (1921). Her brother was Alba Morton Shipman, a career civil servant for the City of San Francisco. Helena Shipman was sometimes confused with the Broadway musical star Helen Shipman from Pennsylvania who married Edward J. Pawley who was a star on Broadway in the 1920s and early 1930s, a character actor in movies during the 1930s and early 1940s, and a star on radio's Big Town drama series in the 1940s and early 1950s.
